It was fun to pass through and see ships coming the other way in the canal. You can see the attemped French canal area section. The whole experience was awe inspiring.

This was a wonderful and fascinating experience. To sail into these locks, with a tiny amount of clearance on either side, and watch the whole process unfold was just a treat. I’m not a geek, and nor do I normally have much interest in how...More

It was something we wanted off of our bucket list and now we have accomplished that. Due to the time constraint we could not have any shore excursions so cannot say anything on the area other than seeing from aboard the ship. It looked great.

The Panama canal was on my bucket list. It was so interesting to pass through the locks that were built over 100 years ago.

Observation area is closed so tour involved on the road over the top of the locks. No place to stop and watch. Saw lock gates from road. Not worth the effort.

Definitely enjoying traversing these locks (in a small 12-cabin cruise ship (m/v Discovery). Got a close up view of just how everything works. The Panama Canal is quite an amazing accomplishment. Got to experience it to believe it.

One planned highlight of our cruise was to passage through the Gatun locks of the Panama Canal. Our ship, Norwegian Star, passed thru the locks with just 2 feet to spare. These locks are an engineering marvel which are now over 100 years old. It...More

Any document or article doesn't make justice to this amazing engineering wonder, you have to see it yourself! We were there with Holland America Line's Cruise Ship and had million dollar views to huge 200 metres/656 feet long and over 32 metres/106 feet wide vehicle...More

I too am not sure if old center is open for business. We were picked up by bus and our guide did mention the new visitor center. Unfortunately, it wasn't part of the tour.

Our tours were also through our cruise line but I just did a google search. There is a Robtad’s Panama Canal Tour that quickly popped up. I clicked the link and it took me to Trip Advisor with a lin’ to book the tour.
