A short stop at what once was a jail is well worth it. The size of the cells and the amount of prisoners that passed through make this an interesting and informative place to visit.

We have been to the island a few times, and will continue into the future. Yes the Gaol (which is 2.6 kilometers walk on a nearly flat road) could do with a mow and de weeding, tours do stop and look. The prison is interesting,...More

If you take a sightseeing tour, which takes approx. 3 hours, you will stop at this place on your itinerary - just to take pics as there is nothing to see/do there. It's the remains of an old prison. Been there several times - it's...More

We went without a guide so didn't know much about the place other than what we read before leaving home. Terrific for the camera enthusiast, Cells were tiny, life would have been miserable. Resident bull safely tied up, but lots of cow pats everywhere!

A tad eerie, but well worth the stop to feel it's history. Unfortunately we didn't have information on the history of it before we went.

We had a tour though our Cruise Ship last week. It was informative and visiting the old jail was very interesting. Thank you, lovely morning tour. :)

In other countries this may have been restored with some history to read. As it is they are just ruins on the side of the road. They are quite extensive if you wander through all the buildings. Would have liked to know a bit more...More
