Quite a small museum i don't think we spent much more than an hour or so there but worth the visit. Many ancient artifacts and musical instruments in a lovely building.

Small ethnographic museum in a nice old building. Small collections of local artefacts, with an interesting section on musical instruments. Traditional music being played in the background. Good explanatory text which, unfortunately for us, was only in French and Arabic. Only 10 Dirhams.

I went there just to see a museum but its only 10 mad, so cheap and if you like music then you will like the museum. Also you can see ancient jewellary, wood work. And it's worth to see.

Be warned that signs are in French and Arabic. This is a small municipal museum which does a good job of telling the history of the town and about traditional cultural elements, There is a small Judaica collection.

Having wandered around the Medina for a few days we took ourselves off to the museum. The museum offers the context and a better understanding of the peoples of the region, the development of the port and town, the influence of the many cultures meeting...More

The museum has a nice overview of the history of Essaouira. I most enjoyed the collection of clothing from the 19th and 20th centuries. There is also a good section about different musical traditions. Signs are in Arabic and French. Well worth the 10DH admission.

Just happened to see this in the Medina and stopped by. For a cheap entry price of dirhams - good value. A limited range of authentic artifacts (inc. musical instruments). Looks as if it was once the Home of a prosperous Resident of some standing...More

This is a lovely place to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the Medina. There is not a lot in side in terms of museum exhibits but the architecture and Moroccan design are lovely to sit with and enjoy a quiet moment. There was...More

A bit disappointing. Its a great space, light, high ceilings and a splendid staircase [ no lift for disabled access ]. But the displays are only described in French, and the English ''guide'' is a single piece of A4 paper, with a bad translation of...More

The price for going inside this museum is very cheap (10 dirham for adults). The museum itself isn't very big. They have some nice old traditional Morocco items for show. My French isn't that good and sadly all descriptions were in French or Arabic. It's...More
