2 days we devoted to exploring the city and walking along it. Essaouira definitely worth it to stay in it: here flows a calm and measured life of the port city. We started with a walk along the old Medina of the city, where the...More

stinky, crowded, lots of cats and seagulls. BUT superb fresh fish - there's a bar-b-que there where you can have lunch. Such fresh tasty seafood!

So sad I do not have a home in Essaouira! I could come here every morning, choose fresh fish, savor the moments, cook the best meals for my loved ones...

Worth a stroll around plenty going on. Be wary they don't like you taking photos of their produce. Near by but your fish and they will cook for you and you can eat at stall.

As a photographer, this port is a must as it offers the most amazing opportunities. The local fishing community were not keen to have their portraits taken but a long zoom was quite useful to capture the feel of the place.

Put on your walking shoes and wander around the fish market. It’s not the top of the class for hygiene, rather a hive of activity with catches of fish coming ashore and being sold. Certainly interesting to see the diversity of fish and the locals...More

Right down to the smell of fresh fish being hauled to market stalls. A wide variety of fish available -- many of which I'd never seen before. The seagulls that hang around the port have to be among the happiest in the world.

Not that we could see. My husband says they are dredging-perhaps the first step in this process. Hope they won’t throw out the small fishing boats. Sorry I had not seen this. I think I was away after that.

Not trying to be funny but unless you understand Maghrebi Arabic, your guess is as good as mine!
