So much more laid back than Fes and Marrakech. The vendors here are not aggressive, but let you look without pressing you to buy. Lovely place to see how Moroccans carry our their lives, either fishing or selling to locals and tourists. Best place we...More

Lovely medina. Small, but has a lot to offer. Spices, vegetables, fish, meat and all kinds of handcraft. Wonderful to walk around and enjoy the calm and relaxed atmosphere.

The most manageable, clean, safe and affordable Medina that we visited on our tour of Morocco. No fear of getting lost!Wish we had come here at the end instead of at the beginning of our trip.

Much more chilled than Marrakech, but still all the colours and life, but just that bit cheaper and with so much less hassle!

Lovely area, with many upscale artisans and a number of nice looking restaurants. Loved walking the ramparts, enjoying the fresh fish brought in each morning by the fisherman and the low key lifestyle. No petty hawkers here!

Essaouira's Medina is a lovely little old town. The size is very manageable (even for a day trip) and there is a lot let chaos than other Moroccan centers. Up on the old walls there are great views of the sea and great photo opportunities....More

Whilst the whole point of a medina is to trade- they do it in a very civilised fashion and relaxed atmosphere here ! After the hustle and bustle of Marrakech at least !! It is more laid back and relaxed here !

We are staying here for 5 days and after a couple of days of orientation found our way around pretty easily. The shopkeepers are generally friendly and there is barely any hassle. We managed to bargain items down reasonably easily. If their best price was...More
