The Souk here is much smaller than Fez and Marrakech but also much easier to get around, has a good range of goods and is quite a bit cheaper. There are several sections to the souk with one area being the main shopping, souvenirs etc....More

Essaouria's souk comprises a major part of the medina (old walled city), and is much smaller than souks at Fes, Marrakesh and Casablanca. Many shops and vendors line Ave. al Aqaba. Side streets are narrow, some with dead ends. The souk is busy, crowded, colorful,...More

I wanted a straw beach bag. I went to numerous shops, but one that's inside the little fish market in the souk gave by far the best price. His starting price was pretty much half of everyone else and he still gave room to bargain....More

The Essaouira souk is a joy for shoppers with very little in the way of the hassle and aggression that many visitors claim to suffer in Marrakech or other large cities. Of course the shop-keepers want to sell to you but they won't come on...More

This is a smaller version of a Souk than other areas in Morocco but I found it to be less congested and less hassle from the vendors. I thought it was also a bit cleaner than most as well. Lots of lovely items to sell...More
