It could be seen as a bit of modern architecture alongside the river that adds flavour to the town by drawing on regional styles, or it could be seen as the monstrosity dominating the skyline and dwarfing Kuching's historic buildings. It's a statement of power...More

Very interesting architecture that serves as the assembly hall for the Sarawak government. Built at high cost, but has little function other than a meeting place for the 50 or so delegates and the Chief Minister. Not ope for visitation.

Recently the local government built the Golden S Bridge to connect the Kuching waterfront and DUN building. Easier to walk there instead of using the "Pak Tambang" (boatmen). Although I recommend using the "Pak Tambang" for the experience.

People were all taking photographs with the building from the waterfront and bridge. However, upon crossing the bridge to try to gain access into the building, we did not see anyone or visitors entering the building.

it was the most attracting view because I stayed nearby this building. It was located opposite of the waterfront of Kuching.

We can not visit it, but we can take pictures from both riversides, from the Fort Marguerita, Astana, from the river taxi.

Best time to view the iconic structured building is during the sunset at Waterfront. Amusing with bright lights surrounding it and the reflections on the river makes it look like an oil painting. The shape of the roof represents the Bidayuh's (local aborigines) house/hut.

An iconic structure across the river, this is the State Legislative Assembly Building. Architecturally distinctive, the roof has the shape of a 'payung' or umbrella. A beautiful landmark, best admired across the river.

The New Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Building (Malay: Bangunan Dewan Undangan Negeri Sarawak Baru) is the current state legislative complex of Sarawak, located opposite water front. Nice place to click pictures however you need to have a boat ride to cross to the opposite side...More

This state legislative building looms high and tall across the river and is very iconic in downtown Kuching. I was told it was suppose to resemble the shape of the Bidayuh ethnic group's longhouse. We could see it across the river from our hotel everyday.
