My wife and I loved this market. We went there for dinner 2 nights in a row. They have dried goods, fruits and vegetables, but the big attraction is the fresh seafood available. There were shellfish and seafood we have never seen before. Beautiful selections. Plus, there are many fruit juice options, sweet treats, chicken wings, etc. It is fun to pick out your fresh seafood and go have a seat, then they will grill or fry it up for you and deliver to your table. You can sit with ocean views. Get a breezy seat as it is hot here.

The souvenirs are of very low quality. Good enough only for the usual keychains and tourists. No real Sabah crafts. Nothing much has changed in this market. The dried seafoods and packed food such as amping sold outside are grossly overpriced. The RM 35 pack of amping was brought down to RM 15. At Pasar Besar, it's sold at RM 12.

…in equal measure, there is loads to buy and look at here. At night it’s really buzzing with people eating and that is the best time to go!

A place for getting pearls and other merchandise at an affordable price. Many small stalls and friendly sellers. The arcade is too crowded.

We went to the Filipino Market 3 times for the seafood. Each time it was delicious! They set up in the mid afternoon and cook fresh seafood which you can get at a great price. It was so good we had to go back. Highly recommend visiting at least once and getting a tuna steak, squid, prawn, crab or whatever else takes your fancy. It’s a bit smoky from all the barbecues but it didn’t bother us.

We return to have dinner at the Filipino Market after 2 years but at different stall totally. Very busy night market with plenty of food and beverage choices. Pick your own seafood & vegetable, the stall chef will cook to your preference.
The fish is steam good, crispy calamari , butter prawns are perfectly done but the wild fern is fiberous and slice of snail meat too tough to bite in. Glass of avacodo juice tasted raw !!!
Not very comfortable dinner time spent here as the smoke from stall doing bbq chicken wings were blowing straight to our side. !!!

Here you can see many locals handing out food, fruit, seafood and variety kinds of things. I stopped by and had a meal here. It was a quite special experience. I like the bbq chicken wing there. Try this out during your visit.

The market is next to the sea, with a lot of replicated shops. The market itself is a bit dirty, and very tight to walk inside. Very average attraction that you can skip.

This market is famous for original fresh and water pearls. You can score both cheap and expensive beautiful pearls in this market.
Filipino Market also offers a wet and dry market that is a haven for bargain hunters.

After walking through the Filipino Market , we sat down at Welcome to Kinabalu Seafood Stall for our dinner . Selecting our choice of various seafood and vegetables , the staff took it to the Chef to cook to our preferred receipes. We then proceed the order juices and drinks. Food service was fast, We enjoyed the juicy, succulent, tasty, tender, savory and delicious food.. Surely it is a great choice to have return again to this stall and it is highly recommened if you ever drop by the Filipino Market Food Stalls !!!!!

Base on my last experience, anywhere around KK was quite near to the market. But the absolute closes hotel to the Filipino Market will be Le Meridien Hotel, which is just across the road. For mid range hotel, the Klagan was quite popular for local travelers too. Access to the airport is more or less the same throughout the city;but be careful not to get caught in a rush hour jam.
Do they sell Philippines product?

Depends on the sellers actually. Some open as early as 8.30am and close around 7pm. I had went there at 6pm and most of them close by 6.30pm-7pm. The later you go, the bigger chances they offer you good price. Good luck!
