This aquarium was nothing but a disappointment. The atmosphere inside was all over very very depressing to say the least and understandably it’s an aquarium but it smelled really bad.
Comparing to the aquarium in Kuala Lumpur, this one was shocking.
The penguins were very cute but did not seem happy / looked after as well as I’ve seen in other zoo’s / aquarium's, and on display is an “underwater view” of the penguins where you can see NOTHING because the tank is so so dirty!!!
There really was not much to show it was extremely underwhelming. The seal tank was also dirty/rusty and the space the poor thing was in was so so small.
Do not waste your time here, instead visit the one in patronas Kuala Lumpur as that one was truly amazing and clean. This was terrible.

We visited Underwater World on a cruise ship excursion in December 2023, actually on Christmas Day. Ironically we hadn't intended to visit as we were due to ride the cable car but it was too windy for them to run in the morning so our excursion visited here as the Plan B. Although disappointed to miss out on the cable cars and sky bridge, we actually really liked our visit to Underwater World.

As aquariums go it was pretty decent, it's the largest attraction of its type in Malaysia and included a wide range of exhibits. You had the usual mix of jellyfish, turtles, stingrays etc, but they had a wonderful display of rockhopper penguins where you could watch them on the rocks or head to a lower viewing area and see them swimming from underneath them. Very cool idea.

Other exhibits included catfish, sharks, a tropical rainforest area, Koi Carp, eels, coral garden fishes, a 15-meter tunnel where you are surrounded by giant stingrays, groupers and turtles, and some reptile displays with snakes. At the end of the walk around there was a large gift shop that also sold duty-free goods with a wide selection of chocolates and alcoholic drinks at reasonable prices.

All in all we enjoyed our visit here...an hour was just enough time to see the various exhibits, watch them feed the rays, and check out the cute penguins too.

Booking with Klook made it easier for us to just go and grab our physical tickets and go directly inside. The place is kinda dated but definitely worth the visit especially if you have kids who'd want to see some sea and tropical animals.

Penguins and flamingoes are unexpected and cute. There is a huge mix of outdoor and indoors exhibitions but I found the whole trip a little bland. 30mins to 1hr will be enough to finish. Fishes kept repeating throughout and the descriptions of each species was little too.

Anywhere that contains animals outside their natural habitat is going to be open to criticism and Underwater World is no exception! The various enclosures are pleasantly done but not big enough for the animals inside! That being said, the animals are relatively safe, well fed and they bring joy to those who visit, when otherwise they might remain unknown, in danger and struggling to survive. Ethics aside, Underwater World is a pleasant couple of hours attraction and worth a visit, to see the joy on the faces of children as they come face to face with such majestic creatures, is priceless. Go see for yourself!!

Nice place to go with kids. For the first time we met with penguins and that was the main attraction of this place. But we expected more from here! Except the penguins other underwater sections were not that rich as we expected to be! Aquaria in KL is far far better than Langkawi’s Underwater World. And as they have penguins they should arrange for penguins show and show with other sea animals like seals and dolphins. More it was not fully satisfying comparing the amount of ticket price!

Entry fee for foreigner is RM53/adult.

What I didn't expect to see was flamingos, peacocks, and some other creatures as soon as you step into the 2nd hall. As they're not caged in, you can see them quite closely.

Of course, you'll see many type of fishes and crustaceans. Jellyfish, sharks, turtle, stingrays, and one of their main attraction are the penguins.

The penguins enclosure or habitat are a unique one. There was underwater view where you can watch them swimming around and ground view where they stands around trying to keep warm. It was a unique experience.

I've seen bigger. Yet, this one got the vibe of its own too. You shouldn't miss it in Langkawi. Everybody can have a good time here. Enjoy every creature in there.
