Sendai is a big modern city so finding this beautiful oasis of nature, history, and peace in the middle of the city is a surprise. You take the Loople Bus Tour and get off at the bus stop not really knowing which way the mausoleum...More

The history of this place is rich but pretty much destroyed and rebuilt. On picture it looks big but the buildings are smaller than in pictures. A bit disappointing. It is alright if you are interested in history.

Right in the middle of a big city, Sendai, this place has a special mystical atmosphere. A must visit when in Sendai! The cedar trees and the approach up the stairs create an inviting yet solemn mood. The three mausoleum are all very impressive and...More

Took the Loople bus to Zuihoden, which consists of the burial places of the past feudal lords of Sendai. The colorful architecture nestled in lush forests made this location a great stop along the Loople Bus route. The tourist architecture is well maintained as well.

Date Masamune founded Sendai 400 years ago. His love of European fashion lead to his name becoming an actual Japanese word! Date (Da-te) means fashionable, stylish, and charming! The architecture and amazing colors look particularly amazing when contrasted with the white snow of winter! Just...More

For the culture afficionados, the 17th century mausoleums of great feudal lord Date Masamune and his descendants is a must-visit. Tourism is organized here, evidenced by panel texts (simple explanations of key artefacts) accessed through uni-voice (a mobile app) by scanning the QR code, presented...More

Fantastic cultural experience and well worth the effort of climbing to the top. Beautiful gardens and the small museum with the forensic re-construction exhibits very interesting.
