Definitely a must-go place. Castle has an original wall and gate that isn't a replicate. The rest of the castle was rebuilt to be similar to the original castle, not a empty shelf museum. Some interactive activities in there. Entrance is free and comes with...More

It is a 30 mins straight walk from the JR Station (we skip the city bus for the walk since weather is good in end-Nov). It is quite cool on a Friday afternoon as we strolled through Chuo-dori, main street of Saga, a rather quiet...More

Learned a lot more about the Saga clan from this well preserved, large castle. It's about a 15 min walk from the nearest bus stop and the route wasn't well marked so took a few checks with locals to ensure I was going the right...More

The restored castle is interesting and they have earphones that explain everything in English. There's no entrance fee and they sell souvenirs.

On the grounds of the ruins they are gradually building wooden reconstructions of the many buildings and you can really feel and re-live the times of shoguns and samurais. There are some amazing artefacts and swords on display. Well worth a visit also on a...More

This was an almost empty castle with historic significance. The pamplet didn't say much. Their staff tried hard to answer our questions but couldn't due to limited English skills. Nice garden though.
