Seriously, his hat rocks... This may be a little far from Shibuya Station for a meetup, tho. Wish there had been a gift shop to buy the hat.

A fine statue of Kato Kiyomasa, right in front of Kumamoto Castle built by him. Good for photo taking with the Castle at the backdrop, and that’s all!

It is situated near the castle and is very well made. There are also the panels nearby explaining the historical background. I really like his hat.

Besides the history behind, this statue, that is just on the way to the Kumamoto Castle, seems a symbol of Kumamoto people perseverance and hardwork after the last year earthquake.

The actual Castle was closed when we went to visit due to the earthquake a hear earlier. This statue stands at one of the entrances and it has great presence.

Discovered this statue just on our way to visit the Castle. The facial expression of the statue is really attractive and lively. In front of the statue is a pile of stones where some children climbed on top of them and took photos.
