Not much explanation in English. So it is difficult to rate the museum However, the film alone is worth the visit. A cult classic in the making - eye wateringly itchy cgi, semi-animation and wholesomely bashful acting. The awkward English translation and dubbing adds even...More

The museum told you how the political development of southern Kyushu impacted Meiji Restoration. The audio lesson in the theatre is something you shouldn't miss. The museum located next to a river with a array of Sakura trees. Good spot for photos during blossom season.

This museum is a fascinating collection and explanation of the geological and human history of Kyushu, particularly southern Kyushu. We spent more than 2 hours looking and reading and actually could have slowed down a bit to study more carefully. One of the better museums...More

This museum obviously has a lot of interesting material, but the paucity of information in English and the assumption of a lot of previous knowledge about the period makes it quite mystifying for foreigners. Even the English soundtrack to the video didn't help much as...More

The Meiji Restoration is an interesting (and confusing!) period of Japanese history where the country turned away from 3 centuries of isolation and emerged into the modern world. The process was not that simple, and the museum does a good job of explaining what happened...More

I find most Japanese museums have great English descriptions but few of the displays did so here. The subject matter is interesting, but I'm not exactly sure what was being displayed. The sound show had English headphones which was good. It's an easy walk from...More

Had a great insight into Japanese history. The robot presentation was great. Their civil wars were a little difficult to fully understand.

Recommended for those interested in Japanese history, you'll learn a lot about the crucial role the men of Kyushu played in the modernization of Japan.
