This is a historic station, so take a few minutes to enjoy it. Also, it has a visitor center where Japanese and English speaking visitors (and probably others) can get help, including bus passes, maps and tourist guides.

After taking the shinkansen to Utsunomia sta, you change to a local train. Its a nice trip if you are staying in Tokyo. After arriving at Nikko Sta, you can choose the principal tourist attactions of the zone.

The Nikko JR Station building is nice looking. Although it is an old structure, the necessary ingredients are contained inside, Including information desks and washrooms. The station staff are helpful and customer-oriented. Good example in the tourist industry.

The train station is in the center of town near the bus station and hotels. There are plenty of shops and food stations in the area.
