Fitting that this is one of the most beautiful bridges of significance in Japan. Start Your Visit to the Toshogu shrines from here. If you feel like it, pay the token fee to walk across it. Most visitors don't on contrary.

You can pay to go up to the bridge- but unless you are doing so for religious reason, there is no need. You can view it from the main bridge.

I think almost every tourist in the area sees this, if only from a passing bus. The bridge is quite attractive but worth visiting on foot in part due to the lovely water features underneath and the views up to the horizon. I doubt paying...More

Located at Nikko city, near de Nikko National Park (main entrance)! The Shinkyo Bridge (神橋, Shinkyō, "sacred bridge") stands at the entrance to Nikko's shrines and temples, and technically belongs to Futarasan Shrine. The bridge is ranked as one of Japan's three finest bridges together...More

Though it’s just a red across a river, you will feel that it’s somehow special. I didn’t visit Nikko during its autumn season, but I believe that it would be very beautiful here when having red leaves.

Very picturesque, looks like something from out of a calendar or a post card. The river below is also a beautiful blue colour.

The bridge is pretty, but much prettier on pictures (esp. promo ones) and starts to look dated (it was renovated in early 2000s). You can get on the bridge for a fee (300 JPY), but the other end is blocked, so you have to return....More

Nice historical bridge, 300 yens just to go across the bridge it’s not really necessary. Better foto to take outside, no really added value to buy the pass

Absolutely a beautiful and stunning bridge. Beautiful trees as a back drop and very nice river runs under the bridge. I did not cross the bridge so I'm not sure if you have to pay. Some amazing pictures can be taken here.

Considered an important cultural property, the Shinkyo bridge in a way decorates the entrance to the world heritage sites of Nikko. The bridge belongs to the nearby Futarasan shrine and most of its parts are vermilion lacquered. It is considered to be one of the...More
