Thought I’d visit Shimizu from Shizuoka. I walked through the fish market and food/ restaurant unit next door. Although it’s good to see all of the fresh local produce most of it was already wrapped and packaged so not what I was really expecting. I...More

Cheap fish and good deal for lunch. There are many restaurants to choose from, just go to the one with many people - you can’t go wrong! They are good for maguro, fish tastes very fresh too!

One building contains the actual market with a few small restaurants. The second building closest to the bus and train station has two levels and the majority of the restaurants. The market sells mostly seafood. It is the cleanest fish market we have ever visited....More

This place is amazing. We didn't eat but walked around and looked at all the food and the amazing fresh fish being prepared for buying. It was a really incredible thing to see.

A local fish market with around twenty restaurants which mainly serve sushi and sashimi for obvious reason. Price are affordable or reasonable when comparing to Tokyo. The sea breeze outside the market is so comfortable in summer days.

Went here for dinner at our first day in Japan. Nice place right at the port where the fresh fish comes in with quite a few (about 10) small restaurants down and upstairs. Very kind people with limited English language skills, but that is one...More

During normal day hours only seafood restaurants. Visit may be worthwhile during real early hours but only to eat seafood for the rest of the day

Loved this fish market! After touring the market, we went to the first floor sushi place near a hallway entrance. From the doorway you can see a row of one-seaters with tablet order monitors along a light coloured wood 'bar'. The main restaurant is behind...More

The place isn't heavily geared towards tourists. It's fairly small. There are about 15 restaurants to eat fresh sushi / sashimi which are pretty good with fair prices. To get here, you can either take the JR to Shimizu station & walk for about 20...More

Yes. There are restaurants with cooked food. The great place with the shinkansen delivering sushi even had fish and chips on the menu.
