Nice to quickly walkthrough. Can visit the whole area in 15min, 30 min if you check out both small gardens and 1 souvenir shop (which is very expensive). Walls are nice compared to kyote which looks newer compared to this. Include it in your castle...More

Narrow lanes snaking around fantastic, well-preserved houses. Suggest a start outside Godburger on the Northern stream/canal (?). Wander westwards towards the other stream and try to find Casa Nomura. Then head down for the crafts on display, especially upstairs, at Shinise Memorial Hall/Museum.

Interesting doors but as you can't see inside (private residences) in the end it's just a long street with quaint-looking facades. Not bad, not great.

Small area, close to the shopping part of town, easily visited in a short time offering you a flavour of what this town looked like once with plenty of opportunities nearby to have dinner.

This area is a great area for a stoll. Great history, a museum and fantastic pottery. Take your time, you will get some great photos and it's less than 20 minutes from Kanazawa station

This is a busy area of old buildings, lots of people -many in Kimonos, and some interesting shops. Interesting to see the old buildings used as shops and restaurants. The gold shop is for those with lots in their wallets!

If you are in Kanazawa you have to go to see this very small district. They are old samurai houses preserved and you can visit one.

This is yet another area to show further history of japan through the preserved city of Kanazawa. Don't miss this if you like the feel of history.

We went early in the morning so there is no crowd except for 1 group of European tourists. This is where the samurai families used to reside. Some of the houses were souvenir shops. Only 1 shop was opened when we visited. A nice place...More
