This street is only 500m long. You can literally walk to the end of it in 3 mins. The occupants of the shops don't seem very traditional to me, e.g. coffee and ice cream. The street was also completely empty with the exception of maybe...More

This is another place where the bijin (teahouse girls) lived and served their skills to those that liked the relaxation of tea houses.

It is a very nice place to visit if you ever go to kanazawa. The cultural aspect of this place is just over the top. The history, the food and the people creates a friendly atmosphere and they do welcome tourist. I went there during...More

Tucked away from the train station, it is located near the samurai house area. Much quieter than the other Geisha area in Kanazawa. The street is filled with renovated gift shops and bars. A nice area for a stroll.

If you like seeing how the old neighborhoods and houses looked, and how the spaces were used, this is a great place to meander and take in the atmosphere, If that's not your thing, it is still a nice place to walk....

Nishi Chaya is much smaller than Higashi Chaya. There is one short street of old wooden buildings. We most enjoyed a children’s playground tucked off the main street. There was one flowering tree there and an old man sitting on a bench who was pleased...More

A little disappointed with the area. Smaller & lesser shops as compared to Higashi Chayagai district. Given a choice, will have explored other places.

This is the biggest and busiest of all the districts and this street is popular with the big bus loads of tourists. Shops, tea houses and food shops here. Very busy.
