Be warned, the nickname “Ninja Temple” is something coined by the marketing advisors to this temple to attract more business and make even more money! Don’t let your kids get too excited about Ninja! The real story is that the temple was the Shogun’s Temple,...More

Fun visit to a temple which is a bit ‘different’. The reservation system put me off at first. There are 2 phones so you can reserve (in English), on the premises. The tour (in Japanese, you get an EN brochure) is fun and definitely different...More

The temple is a testament to very clever craftsmanship and definitely worth a visit. However you will need to make a reservation (by phone, in Japanese. We got the lady at the train station tourist info office to help us) and you cannot visit except...More

We were here on our last day in Kanazawa. You are supposed to book your spot by phone before you come, but if you are lucky like us you can just come early in the morning and join the guided tour right away. The tour...More

Good opportunity to peek behind the scenes and get an insight into how they dealt with invaders. Guided tour only but the tourist office in the Kanazawa Station will help make reservations for you. English speakers will get a folder with the English explanation so...More

Although the tour is in Japanese only, the brochure is very helpful and the guide is extremely well trained. We had a great time here, and have never been anywhere quite like it in Japan or anywhere else. Prepare for lots of steps and interesting...More

If you are going to visit any temple or shrine in Kanazawa, this is the one. The 40 minute guided tour must be booked in advanced. Have the info office at Kanazawa station or your hotel/ryokan make the reservation, usually at least one day ahead....More

Our tour guide made our reservations as you do need to do this. The guided tour is in Japanese only but the staff made sure we had a folder with an English description of each stop along the way. Not to be missed!

You must participate in a guided tour which is conducted in Japanese. As an English speaker, you are given an English guide which you return at the end. The construction and design are fascinating. I don't know if you can just walk in and get...More
