Fuji was a JMSDF ice-breaker in service, before retiring as a museum ship. The interior is well-maintained, containing displays of everyday lift aboard a ship of its type. There is a web-based tour-guide which explains what you are seeing in various languages. You can even...More

It is full of explanations (including downloadable via mobile phones) so it is very useful to add knowledge about the exploration in the south pole. Easy to reach from station. Cost is quite cheap, there is also a package with Nagoya maritime museum.

Next to the aquarium but not very interesting. You can walk through the ship but that's it. I'd prefer the animals.

Is nothing more than a huge civil ship where you can also explore inside. The use it to explore South Pole and also with small tank and huge propeller parked in front of the boat

I love this, right up my street. Historical and Mechanical! Antarctic survey ship, no longer used, now a great museum. Well worth a look. I went straight after visiting the nearby aquarium - going to both makes a very busy, enjoyable day

Located at the Nagoya port a former antarctic exploration vessel is turned in to a museum. Impressive was the helicopter on the rear deck. Also the bridge, the man's quarters, the medic room and the radio room gave a good impression of what was going...More

We went as a group with three kids, and they loved exploring the different rooms. Almost everything had an additional English description, so it turned out to be educational, too. Though, for the claustrophobic, the ship can be a little bit too cramped.

We came here specifically for the ship's history with the sled dogs it left behind, dramatised in the film Nankyoku Monogatari (Antarctica). The ship is not a popular attraction, there was no one else there when we went. You buy a ticket which covers entry...More
