- Viet Exquisite TravelHanoi, Vietnam48 contributionsA nice sandy beach but...My Khe Beach is a really nice beach with soft & white sand, temperate waves. There are several food and beverage options along the scenic walkway. Maybe because the beach is close the city centre with lots of hotels & residential nearby, it is too crowded...Visited September 2022Written March 29, 2023
- MagarBrooklyn, New York3 contributionsNice beachThe beach is kept clean and the water is crystal clear. There are also plenty of great restaurants nearby, making it easy to enjoy a delicious meal after a day of sun and sand. My Khe Beach is a great place to spend a day or two, and I highly recommend it.Visited April 2023Written April 20, 2023

- Ajay Arora ( Food N Travel Diaries )Bengaluru, India2,058 contributionsBeach life at its bestBeautiful beach. We were staying in one of the hotels facing the beach and every moment was mesmerizing. Beautiful sunset with people hitting the water as early as 5.30, exercising, aerobics, zumba classes and more. In the evening with all the lights coming on and the food stalls, option to rent chairs and just making sand art in the clean sand - just wonderful. Life guards are always available and flags are raised to indicate when it's not safe for a swim.Visited April 2023Traveled with familyWritten May 13, 2023
- Ly0lik202 contributionsThe best city beach of Vietnam! The best city beach of Vietnam! Really big and very clean (unlike other beaches). Here it is enough place for everyone, so no crowds. Luckily this part of beach os not popular among Vietnamese, so there are no people shouting karaoke, no smelly food and garbage. Comparing with other Da Nang beaches, this one is more developed with some bars and restaurants on the beach. It is really calm and peaceful atmosphere here. Highly recommend!Visited May 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten May 21, 2023
- BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia17,760 contributionsBeautiful and long beachMy Khe is the central beach of Da Nang city. It's a long and sandy beach, pretty wide. Many hotels line it, just across a busy street. There're many free parts, as well some where's a bar and where you can rent sunbeds. Water is shallow for long, usually with waves. Try to get up early one day before sunrise, as the beach is east oriented. Apart beautiful scenery of the rising sun, you'll enjoy many locals around swimming, practicing tai-chi, jogging, exercising.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 1, 2024

The beach offers not only safe swimming but also great restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. We were amazed by the abundant marine life we encountered while snorkeling. The diverse cultural influences in the area added an extra layer of charm to our visit. We highly recommend this beautiful beach destination for a relaxing and enriching getaway.

From our hotel rooftop pool and bar we can see My Khe. The view is stunning but with strong waves obviously not suitable for swimming. We decided to step onto the beach on this windy and wintery day. It was peaceful and rather empty because it was Tet. We didn't encounter any touts maybe it was Tet and the people were on Tet holiday reunion back home. There are a few massage huts still operating during Tet along the beach. There are "No Swimming" signs on the beach. The waves are indeed strong and at times look like mini tsunamis. I stood on dry beach to take a photo but when I looked into my phone camera and shot in a second my shoes and pants were already soaked by the waves, yikes! Obviously no swimming for anyone unless you are a pro surfer. While we were there during Tet week, it was too cloudy, windy and wintery to do any beach activities except for a stroll. Since the place wasn't busy for a while, we didn't see much rubbish like the rest of Vietnam. Having a short stroll at the beach was sufficient. You do not want to do anything else that could hurt you including massages that don't look very hygenic.

Nice long beach. Near some hotels and restaurants (pricey) around. There are local vendors around who offers beach beds with canopy if you order drinks and foods from them.

is the water okay for swimming? Are there any dangerous sea creatures? I heard that in some months there can be a lot of jellyfish

We are looking to visit Vietnam, base ourselves at a beach and go on some trips.
We want to go to Hoi An, Hue and do the Top Gear Tour across the pass.
Is this all possible from this beach area.
Would also welcome other suggestions for better beach base and also other places to see in this area.
Thanks.

If you want to be in a beach town, stay in Danang. You can always take daytrips to Hoi An, which is only 29km away. Hoi An also has a few nice beaches about 5km away, An Bang (very touristy), Lonely beach (very nice and cheaper), and Coconut beach (you will have the whole beach to yourself).
Are you travelling with kids? We rented scooters for the week, and travelled between the 2 towns (we stayed in both).
The distance between Danang and Hue is about 100km one way. So put a whole day aside if you are not sleeping over in Hue. (you are obviously going to stop along the way to take in the scenery and take pictures). Also Hai Van Pass has lots of twists and turns, if you are travelling by scooter and are not an experienced motorcycle driver, beware of trucks, etc. But still worth it, very beautiful.
I have a contact in Danang for renting scooters. Just message me.

The weather is still pretty good. A little cooler, maybe 20-25C, but when it's sunny it's great for a swim. Be ready for cool water though!

I've just moved to Da Nang to work here for a year, and had been really looking forward to doing lots of swimming! However, there seem to be "no swimming" signs pretty much down the entirety of the beach? There are only a few small sections where swimming is permitted, and so these tiny areas are super crowded and it's impossible to relax and swim. The sections seem to have been chosen arbitrarily and even if I venture out a few metres from the invisible line in the water, an overzealous lifeguard uses his whistle and waves me back in.
Does anyone know the reasoning behind this? There are no boats moored, and the water is very shallow even in the no swimming areas.

As far as I am aware, the 'no swimming zones' are more prevalent at this time of year due to weather conditions, which result in large amounts of debris and more importantly, 'under tows' or 'rip currents' and I certainly noticed the latter off My Khe beach on my visit in September. The tides also create 'hidden gullies' which can suddenly put you out of your depth. Hopefully the areas will become less prevalent as the seasons change, but in the meantime, rely on the lifeguards.
