The palace itself is beautiful and well maintained. It’s a very inviting place and the staff are welcoming. As a visitor, much more explicit information in the form of stories, videos, descriptions of objects, a time line of evens and personalization of the palace would really help make the experience more valuable. I came away with more questions than answers.

We stopped by here for a little over an hour to see all the various parts of the palace. There is not much in the way of AC nor reading materials, mostly just seeing how people lived several decades prior.

1. Palace area is huge and next to Al Ain Oasis (though the entrance from oasis side is closed).
2. There are several stratus of small buildings around the courtyard. All nicely maintained without dust or molds.
3. No, there is no Royal exhibit which is a bit disappointing for kids.
4. The photographs of the Sheikhs are the only exhibit and few old beds and Diwaniya furnitures.
5. The place has a serene and quiet feeling. 30 mins away from the scotching Sun shine.
6. Entry is free

During our journey through Abu Dhabi, my wife and I visited the Al Ain Palace Museum, which is also known as the Sheikh Zayed Palace Museum. While visitors are free to explore the museum on their own, this is a museum where use of a guide is particularly helpful. The history of the United Arab Emirates is fascinating and our guide provided expansive information with lots of interesting details that aren’t always explained in the exhibits.

We learned that Al Ain was founded in 1971. Before 1971, the States in this region were called Sheikdoms. The history of the Al Ain, Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates must be considered in the context of the history of outside governments such as the Portuguese and British, which sought to control parts of the Arab Peninsula and its rich resources.

This history makes the vision of Sheik Zayed, who was born in 1918, even more impressive! Sheik Zayed’s vision and management of resources led to the development of the amazing United Arab Emirates. He was wise enough to know that sharing Abu Dhabi’s wealth with the other six Emirates would result in growth and prosperity for what is now the United Arab Emirates.

The museum provides information about the past and current government structure in the United Arab Emirates as well as the cultural and social norms of the UAE.

This is a must visit site if visiting Al Ain.

This palace is where Sheikh Zayed spent his early years. There are many rooms to see and the palace is worth exploring. You can see how his family lived in days gone by.
