I went to Kusadasi this past summer, and chose Barel Travel for my tours. I had Orcun as a guide and he was very good. A very friendly and personalized experience over and above what I had expected. I would certainly recommend Barel especially if you're looking for nice individualized treatment rather than just being lumped in with a huge group like you get with some other tour companies.

We visited Samos with this company. Our trip to Samos started on time without any problems.
We took the ferry VENUS. It is a rather small ferry with not so comfortable comfortable seats. It had AC but they didn’t use it, even though the temperature was still above 30.
Our return journey was a bit more problematic. It delayed for some time due to the lack of organization. The weather was stormy and the ferry was lurching so badly as if it would overturn. Very scary.
Next time I will look for other alternatives.

We caught the new fast ferry to Patmos on only the second day of its operation.
We expected that the crew would still be on a learning curve and that there would be glitches but no, they were very professional and the whole trip was well organised. The crew could not have been more friendly and helpful. The ferry had been newly refurbished to a very high standard and the cafeteria in the comfortable salon served real coffee.
The service was punctual. The ferry is fast. On the return journey we were delayed by passport control and the conventional ferry set off about 15 minutes before us. Ten minutes after we set off we passed it. According to my GPS we averaged 21 knots. Although the sea was very choppy and other boats we passed were pitching and wallowing, our ride was very smooth and comfortable. We plan to take a short break to Samos organised by Barel Travel next month.
We highly recommend the new ferry service.

I used Barel travel for a private tour of Pamukkale and another private day tour in Goreme. Both days were great because we went to the recommended places but the guides also deterred to the other places I wanted to see. Both guides were very informative, laid back, and chilled out which made it fun days out. Gonca and Kemal back up the service given by their guides by providing excellent customer communication.

I absolutely loved my time in Turkey and Greece. Our tour guides Ozlem and Gulden were amazing. They were full of knowledge and love for their country. They spoke excellent english and really knew how to cater to a group of 40 college students. I will never forget my time in these amazing countries and if I ever get a chance to see them again, I will contact Barel Travel without a second thought.

Recommended by our hotel (the one ding against them) but a major disappointment. Our guide spoke poor English at a very rapid rate in completely disjointed sentences. It didn't help that he would change topic (or era or site) mid-sentence on a regular basis. He never allowed us to interrupt him to ask for clarification or to ask questions. When we did ask questions, we could almost guarantee that the answers were not too pertinent. I spent much of the time translating for my friend (I did somewhat better translating "cow" into "chaos" when he really meant chaotic). We booked two day trips (and transport to the airport). We never got a real response about how this was going to be coordinated (ie, take our luggage with us the whole day or go back to the hotel). We ended up with our luggage all day, which was silly since we ended our tour (before heading to the airport) feet from our hotel. Because of our flight out, we asked for an earlier start on that day. Instead we found out that the first day was going to be an earlier than planned start and the second day not. This ended up working out fine, but it seemed like a screw-up with no communication with us. Prices are in euros. Since there was a discount for cash (no surprise there, in Turkey) we asked for the price in dollars. The dollar price they quoted was about 10% too high. There were many possible reasons for the error, but more important, they never responded to multiple emails for clarification. But then, amazingly, at the end, the driver (who was excellent), not the tourguide quoted us the dollar amount that we proposed. Also, this was the only company (tour, hotel) we dealt with that didn't ask us to review them.

My family and I are visiting Turkey this summer, and part of our trip included a few days in Kusadasi in order to visit Ephesus, etc. We liked the idea of a personal tour guide and with help from our hotel (Doubletree in Kusadasi) we learned about Barel Travel.
We were met in the morning by the best tour guide in Turkey, named Raife. We really enjoyed meeting and getting to know Raife. She was extremely knowledgeable about Ephesus and the other places we toured (House of the Virgin Mary, Basilica of St. John) and also about Turkey. We learned so many new things about a country we have quickly come to love and appreciate.
We have taken other guided tours in Turkey but this one was by far the best. If you're planning to visit the area and want to work with a company that uses modern and reliable vehicles, safe drivers, and provide tour guides like Raife, look no further than Barel Travel.
11 out of 10!

I can not imagine a more enjoyable way to explore the Ancient ruins available from the Kusadasi cruise port. Orcun picked us up exactly on time in a Mercedes mini-van with a polite and safe driver. We got to Ephesus ahead of all the cruise passengers and were the first visitors of the day in the amazing Terrace Houses there. We learned about the history, architecture and even Biblical tie-ins. The guide was the perfect combination of providing information and giving us a little free time to explore.
After Ephesus, we enjoyed the museum and a delightful lunch. It was great to eat at a local place; the food was superb and it felt really authentic. At each stop, we learned more, but always had a chance to wander and shop, ask questions and marvel. Orcun was excellent at sensing when we wanted to get moving, and when we wanted to know more. We were never pressured to purchase anything, unlike what we heard from friends who took other tours.
This company is the height of professionalism, and the day exceeded my expectations in every day.

Don't buy ferry ticket with BOAT NAMED "SULTAN-1". It is extremely UNSAFE to travel under mild weather conditions, crew is very unprofessional but THE BOAT IS A "W R E C K". I will write a official complaint to the Department of Travel and Naval Transportation to Turkey to cancel this boat's license to carry passengers to Samos island from Turkey
!!!!! It shakes like a roller coaster, the weights of the boat and the condition is definitely NOT SUITABLE to trips to SAMOS island from Turkey. If you make a deliberately mistake and try to buy a ticket make sure that it's not with SULTAN-1!!!!!!

After many of my travels around the world, I would say this has been by far the best! The insight and knowledge I gained, the well planned sights, and the friendly guides made it the trip of a lifetime! I had the pleasure of having Özlem and Gulden as my guides and they were not only extremely thorough in their knowledge, but also some of the kindest people I've met! They were not only the best tour guides I've had, but became good friends. I would reccomend it to anyone looking for a good time with great people!

Is the boat going to Pythagoria on Sunday? What time? From where? Do we need to book?
Written September 4, 2015
Yes she goes to pythagorio every Saturday and Sunday. I think also on some weekdays. She leaves from the main cruise port at 9 am. Need to be there for 8:30 am. Best to ring Barel Travel as you used to be able to just turn up and collect your boarding pass from just inside the port, just past the security guards. Don't know whether you still. Can. As I said best to ring them. They are in the Grand Bazaar outside the port, turn right and just behind the big taxi rank.
