Most beautiful town of Northern Thailand that I have ever been too. I cannot express how gorgeous the serenity of this place is until you witness it with your own eyes.

We actually stayed up at the Akha Mud House just out of town and came here for the day. There was a lively market on Sunday and we thoroughly enjoyed our day.

A fantastic part of northern Thailand. Lots of little hill tribe villages. We visited the town for some time. wandered the markets, brought some great uloong from a little tea shop which had tastings and also visited plantations. The area itself has an interesting history.

Going up and down the mountain offers amazing landscapes but it is a pity that once on the top you get to visit the tea plantations just on your own, no guide or explanations on how collection and process to get tea is made.

YOU'VE probably heard of the expression to go "off the beaten track" when referring to remote areas, but some of the roads in Doi Mae Salong are so remote we could well have been their only vehicle of the day. This was true back-of-beyond isolated...More
