One can get a bit "templed - out" after a few weeks in Thailand but this temple was enjoyable to visit. We were even offered free drinks or ice creams and we accepted the latter. I would recommend a visit here. There is an interesting...More

Wat Phra Kaeo has great history as the resting place of the original emerald Buddha, which today sits in Bangkok. There is a very beautiful replica of the original in this Wat as well as other beautiful deities and a peaceful prayer hall. This Wat...More

It was mentioned that the statue was originally donated to Myanma king Anawyahta and reached Cambodia. Chaingrai got the statue and kept there giving replica to Lao and Bangkok. The sculpture work is fine and size is bigger than the one at Bkk. The surrounding...More

Wat Phra Kaeo is a very quiet, charming and historically important temple as it once hosted the Emerald Buddha. Its magnificent gardens with wonderful orchids and the Buddhist monks walking around create a wonderful atmosphere. It is a very relaxing place as there were almost...More

The area surrounding the temple is gorgeous and peaceful. We had a great time strolling around. I recommend checking out the bells.

I checked some of negative reviews and it is clear these people are confusing this temple with the one in Bangkok. There is NO admission fee and NO crowds. This is a lovely temple with peaceful surroundings. There's also a nice museum here in one...More

What is different about this temple, apart from the obvious, is the care taken in the surroundings; with fabulous orchids and other exotic plants in the grounds.

The temple is small but historically important as it is here where the Emerald Buddha, now in Bangkok, was kept. Don't miss the museum next to the temple with a beautiful collection. And it was quiet here.
