The North of Israel is usually visited for its National Parks and Reserves, for its rivers, streams (Nehalim) and waterfalls, all of them amazing in Winter after heavy precipitations. So it is a good opportunity to pepper these family trips with a little bit of History. Especially when it is so important in the History of this country. You will learn of Yosef Trumpledor, this Russian Officer who came and died here defending the fortress which you can visit at the same occasion as it is not far from thus Museum.

This is not an amazing Museum, but it has a great significance in the history of the state, and as such should be visited. Try to make some time for it between the Nature Reserves and waterfalls of the North.

Great reception. Thorough and well presented information. Multi media presentations. Feel like you get to know the people and their stories and the history. Honors their memory too. Go all way to the roof and look out. Be sure to walk all around the grounds. Walk to Tel Hai and the cemetery and Roaring Lion. We easily had 3 hours here.

Hashomer (The Watchman) was the forerunner of the Israel Army, established secretly under Turkish and then British rule in what was Occupied Palestine until its liberation in 1948. A well designed museum worth visiting next to Kfar Giladi(within walking distance).
