See a different side of Israel, from crusader fortresses to Baha’i shrines, from Roman architecture to marine caverns, on this door-to-door guided tour of the nation's northern coast. Start at the Roman ruins of Caesarea, built by Herod the Great; progress to Haifa, where the sacred gardens of the Baha’i faith tumble down terraces; enter the watery wonderland of the Rosh Hanikra grottos; and discover the rich history of Acre.

This is not like the famous Colosseum in Rome but this one does not disappoint. It's Israel's most ancient theater and anything associated with Israeli history is full of history. This is another Herod legacy. This was also the venue of ancient local Olympics here. Today, it's being used for local and foreign concerts.

Even though they have refurbished the amphitheater they have left a small section of 2,000 year old seats. The view from the amphitheater is directly out into the Mediterranean Sea! Sunsets and vistas are more than 2,000 years old and still amazing!

An entrance ticket to Caesarea National Park includes the theater, so if you’re visiting the park, you can’t miss it. The park has 3 entrances, and the entrance closest to the theater is called the Roman Theater entrance. The theater, the oldest in Israel, dates to Herod’s time. The shape is the classic Roman model: a semi-circle with blocks of seats, arena and stage areas, and even underground dressing rooms. Our guide explained the advanced acoustics of Roman theaters, which allowed all spectators to hear the actors, even those in the top tiers. The Roman Theater is used today for performances and renovations appear to be ongoing.
