Stopped by Samalona after a business trip to other island. The spot we landed has white sand, unfortunately the beach was dirty. Trash everywhere and it stank. Was offered divan for rent @ IDR 100.000 but bargained down to IDR 70.000 each since we rented...More

A short boat ride from Makassar marina A little bit of paradise. Coral sand. Clear warm water. Colourful tropical fish swim very close. Great grilled fish, rice and vegetables. Plenty of shade from the trees. Lovely lazy day.

I like the color of the water and white sand, but a little bit messy for the island. All the thing here is pricy even toilet. If u wanna have some food an drink, you better bring it first from city before leaving to samalona.

I agree with the other reviews, the water is clear & warm but the island is a bit messy but that's quite normal for Indonesia. I have been told there is another island slightly further out called Kodingareng Keke with less people & cleaner. I...More

Samalona is a small nice island close to Makassar (20 minutes with boat from fort rotterdam)we spent a day there and I love it! The water is so transparent and it's good for snorkeling too

Nice place, not far away. Water is transparent and there is a funny local ambience, but don't expect it to be perfectly clean tropical beach white thin sand island... it's relatively dirty and noisy. But a good place to spend some hours while in Makassar.

A nice little island very close to Makassar. A few minute boat trip away brought us to this island with white sandy beaches, nice seafood and friendly people. A nice little daytrip away from the traffic and noise of Makssar.
