Pretty alright for a visit of 45 minutes, although the drive from the resorts area takes longer than that.
As with almost everything else in Bintan, there is a (often not exactly reasonable) price. This is my first time visiting any place of worship in the world that charges an entrance fee.

Must visit when in Bintan for Buddhists and non Buddhists. This place has a very positive energy. It is situated on top of a hill with very nice breeze and light. Take time to read the inscriptions for stories about the Buddha and the various Bodhisattvas. Walk around to the back and you will see the vihara for Kisitigabra. The great statue of the future Buddha is impressive.

Only about 45 minutes drive from Bintan Resorts area. Best to book tour with BRC Tours as access into the temple sometimes required pre-arrangement. Certainly not to be missed attraction on Bintan Island

This place looked majestic from the entrance with a huge statue of Bodhisattva overlooking the entrance way. Serene temple grounds with supposedly 500 life-sized Lohan/arhat stone statues with intricate physique and facial expressions, all unique and different. Unfortunately the narration are all in Mandarin so if you can’t read Mandarin, it would be a waste. There is a temple within which you can pray and make offerings. The area isn’t very big and you should be able to finish within an hour. Entrance fee is 30,000 rupiahs. Note that you may wish to negotiate with your Go-Jek driver to wait for you as there are no return cars available for booking. Recommended to visit just before closing at 5pm when it is not too hot.

The 500 luo-han statutes are so life-like! Each statute has its own facial expressions and postures. It was a pity there was a barricade so those at the back couldn’t be seen clearly.
And this place is great for day and night photography too!

Magnificent view of 500 Lohan. Besides that there are also many other statues. I believe Buddhists will like this place and it should be a must visit for them.

Pretty new and fresh spot for 45 min visit which is enough. The area is rather small. Most of the statues are in one area and you can see the faces of the first line statues. Kids 12 and under are free, rest the same price as for adults. Other tourists would like to get photos with you :)

Admission fees too steep at 30,000 rupiah.
Although it is unique to see so many of Lohans but unfortunately can only be viewed from a distance.
Other than that, there is not much left to see.

The Lohan 500 temple is a unique temple that is still being built, somewhat. Our driver told us that the temple opened in 2017. This Buddhist temple distinguishes itself by having nearly 500 stone statues of 'arahats' within the temple complex with detailed facial expressions spanning the full range of human emotions. Each statue has a description but unfortunately it is written only in Chinese. There is a giant, open-air stone sculpture of Buddha at the entrance. The temple walls are adorned with murals describing important events from Buddha's life. One can sense the integration of various belief systems into Buddhism reflected in the various statues throughout the temple complex. There is an entry fee of S$3.00 per person. Overall, a site worth visiting in Bintan.

It seems that Pulau Bintan has plenty of tourism object related with Budishm. One of it is Patung 1000.
10 minutes distance from Raja Haji Airport and located in the hill, gives another sensation and enjoyment.
Ticket is only IDR 5000 equivalen to $Sing 0,5.

do they sell flowers at the temple? are we allowed to present flowers in the park/temple
Written October 8, 2018
I didn’t see anyone selling outside the temple but there was a store into the temple grounds selling food and drinks. It doesn’t appear people have been leaving flowers around.

Hi, may I know how much is the entrance fee and how much is the car service to go there? Also is it fine to wear shorts while roaming around there?
Written January 20, 2018
There was no cost here. However, we were not able to go into any building. No need to either. We took a cab from the ferry terminal. We had the driver all day for about $60 USD. So I’m sure just a quick trip there would be cheaper. It was well worth it to have the same driver all day. He was very helpful and took us many places.

Which travel agent should I contact ? I'm now in Bintan and thinking to visit there but I can't find included this one package. How should I do?
Written September 2, 2017
Hi Ngu,
Unfortunately I have never use the travel agent for traveling in that place, I explore alone or sometimes with friend. Its a safe place to do it by ourself, just get taxi. Try to make friend wth locals if u are travelling alone especually. :)

I was in Bintan on a free & easy - self organised trip without going thru a travel agent. However, I believe you may simply google to find a reputable travel agent in Bintan. If not, the hotel / resort would be able, if not delighted to recommend you their travel agent contacts. Otherwise, just hire a car (approx. IDR 350,00 per car) for a day trip incl. driver to show you around - Temple hopping & explore Tanjong Pinang ! It's fun :-)
Ps. Sorry for the delay in my reply. Hope you're still there?

Hi, thanks for the message.
I have never took the ferry my self from and to Singapore to Tanjung Pinang, I fly from Jakarta to both places. However I heard that the ferry is quite good. Once arrive on the island you can take taxi from the pier. Make sure you ask the meter taxi, because some of them would give you a price directly.
Please do not hesitate if there still any queries. Have a nice trip in the future!

Is there an entrance fee? How can I commute from Tanjung Pinang to the temple if I would not avail the services of a tour operator? Thanks!
Written May 27, 2016
Hi, wow sorry I have mossed your question. I hope its will be still useful. There is only a few thousands rupiah I think, very cheap. You dont neet to use any travel agent for this, lol. There are taxis available.
