Must go when you're visiting jogja. But be prepared to wake up as early as 3am to prepare for the sunrise. Hire a jeep to bring you up to at real affordable price. Spent around 3 to 4 hours visiting this place.

What a bumpy ride! The driver took us on a jeep to see the aftermath of the volcano eruption. If the weather was sunny and clear, you could actually get very good views of Mt Merapi, unfortunately it wasn't for us.

Merapi is a tremendous volcano, which is still active. The smoke is easily seen from distance and the local museum offers many scientific details. You can visit a very impressive museum, located at small village, which was partly destroyed from the lava.

A very old Jeep brought us up to the best places to see Merapi. Interesting was the "Museum" with all the pictures and damaged household goods from the last eruption of Merapi.

I liked its beauty. I don't like the weather because its warm and usually you can only have a better view when the sun is up.
