I would not recommend it to anyone, but if you love theatre and fine arts, if you still allow your inner child to be amazed and surprised then it's worth while. Language barriers and unfamiliar plot make a bit hard to focus attention for the...More

The puppet show at Oka Kartini was authentic shadow puppets with modifications which made it fun and entertaining for tourists. They included some English dialog and contemporary jokes to keep those of us who do not speak Sanskrit engaged. The puppet masters manipulation of the...More

Tedious, long and impossible to follow. Unlike other Balinese performances which are at least impressive and interesting despite slightly hard to follow, this was impossible to discern any possible storyline and was unimpressive from the start to the end. Do anything else instead of going...More

I wanted to like this performance, I really did. But this tests the patience of anyone who does not speak Bahasa Indonesia and is not accustomed to the music and puppets. It was extremely loud (but not pleasant to the ear, with lots of banging),...More

The show was fun with the dalang speaking in Balinese, French and English to accommodate many guests. The story was easy to follow, and funny. The shadow puppets were exquisite to see, and after the show, the shop was opened allowing patrons to buy masks...More

Great experience of Balinese ancient art, those delicacy puppets are so amazing, artists vocal performance powerful. Recommend not to understand what's playing but just feel it with five senses then you'll get great experience.

We had already seen some Balinese dancing, so we thought this would be something different to try. There were only 11 spectators present when it started and several of them struggled visibly with the noise level, as the music was very good, but somewhat loud....More

We were recommended this show by hotel staff and several drivers. The hotel gave us a list of dance and puppet shows but said this is the one for authenticity. Show starts at 8pm. $10 AUS. There were seats for about 60 but only 5...More

The puppet master showed a great sense of fun and added some English to the mostly Sanskrit play. We already knew the plot and the characters so it was no problem to get the drift...it was good theatre with an atmosphere of mystery as we...More
