About
Air Terjun Tegenungan is a beautiful natural waterfall located just a half-hour drive from Ubud. The lush greenery and picturesque falls are a great photo op to commemorate your trip to Bali. When the conditions are good, you can take a dip in the inviting pool at the base. For a bird's eye view of the falls, be sure to check out the viewpoint near the entrance. Also, note that there's a small fee to enter the waterfall. To make the most of your trip, take a guided tour to explore other waterfalls in Bali. And if you need a break, there are tourist shops and a day club nearby. – Tripadvisor

    Close to the City Waterfall
The Tegenungan Waterfall is a very popular spot with locals & tourists as it is fairly close to the city, just 10 km outside Ubud. The waterfall is open from 6:30 am – 6:30 pm. However, the best times to enjoy it would be between 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Visitors can park their cars at an open parking lot at IDR5,000. There is no charge for motorcyclists. Lockers & toilets are available but chargeable, as well. Walking a few steps ahead after getting our tickets, we were greeted by a very large signage of “Welcome to Tegenungan Waterfall”. Along the way to the waterfall were shops selling food, drinks, swimming paraphernalia & souvenirs. Since we were pressed for time & I had some ankle issues, we walked to a viewing point area or location. From there, we could see a full view of the Tegenungan Waterfall from afar. There were many people at the waterfall. We could also see a wedding photo opportunity taking place! We took quite a few photos of the waterfall in the background surrounded by a lot of greenery & rocks before leaving. It was quite surreal. I could almost feel the cooling water on my skin. The waterfall may be categorised as a small one but its gushing water is undoubtedly very strong. The water that plunges into the pool below is not very clear. However, it does provide a cool respite against the hot weather around the year. Since it is not very high, you can find thrill-seekers jumping off the cliff despite having prohibitive signs around. The water may not be deep enough to cushion the jump downwards. Further reading suggests that one must walk down approximately 150 concrete wide steps with safety rails before reaching the waterfall area. A restaurant with an open-air design has been built near the falls. There is also a large swing for insta-worthy photos which we had missed.

    Beautiful site
It’s important to note that even if you don’t plan on going down to the waterfall, you still have to pay the entrance fee. Unfortunately due to the weather and having two small children with us, we only saw the waterfall from the viewing platform and it was very pretty. Lush green surrounds and good vantage points to take photos. Loved the nests where you can take pics, too! Our son thought they were brilliant! Our visit was pretty quick, in and out in a matter of 10mins (it started to pour soon after we left so we timed it well) so wasn’t the greatest visit, but would still recommend.

Don't be too sad if you miss it. Instagramable if you are interested.
We had a couple of hours to kill on our trip from Ubud to Seminyak so asked our driver to take us to a waterfall and he chose here. Entry is 20,000Rp (about $2). The walk towards the fall has heaps of market type shops and some restaurants. We had an icecream which then meant my partner could use the toilets for free otherwise it was a very small fee. There are quite a few stairs down to the falls with several photo opportunities including a nest like structure you could sit in and have a photo and a love heart you could stand in front or behind for photos. All instagramable if you are into that (I'm not). The falls were moderately impressive but spoilt by all the commercialism including jungle swings. You could swim in the pool at the bottom of the falls although half was roped off so you couldn't get close to the falls themselves. The water was muddy looking. There was a small man made swimming area near the base of the stairs that looked much more appealing to swim in. It was an additional $2 each to walk up to the top of the falls, we elected not to having not been amazed by the bottom of the falls. My photos looked better than my memory, so if photos are your thing, go for it. It was midday on a Friday in Australian school holidays and there were quite a few people there but I wouldn't call it packed.

Super busy, very touristy and a long walk down to the river. More than 200 steps up and back, water was packed with people so wasn’t really a refreshing or enjoyable experience! Waterfall is pretty, but feel like you can just take the photo and then leave

Lovely sights. Slightly ruined visit because of the large numbers of tourist but otherwise still a lovely visit. Would not recommend to those who have difficulties with their mobility as there are many steps (both steep and/or narrow) and if you’d like to get up to nicer areas it would be extremely difficult if you have mobility issues.

Otherwise I was mesmerised and we spent a bit of time just soaking our feet in the water.

It was definitely interesting to visit, as it has so many people and it is such a large waterfall; but definitely too busy to get much enjoyment or to swim. I much preferred the smaller but empty waterfalls I visited that day (Uma Anyar and Sumampan). Quite a few steps but not steep. There is a market but our driver didn’t recommend shopping there.

Stunning waterfall ruined.
Have to first walk through a busy market then to get to the waterfall is long. We didn’t bother
They e made a beach club next to it and the waterfall is so full of people having full on photo shoots

Not my cuppa tea, I just wanted to see a beautiful waterfall and capture a photo

Get there early as a bit later it is crowded with tourists. It is a nice spot, but the crowds and the tourist traps are over the top, like so many such places. If you are into the water and sitting in the sun with a few drinks you will love it.

If you are into natural beauty as I said get there early to see it, but still hard to get away from the tourist strip that has overtaken the falls.

We were at this waterfall 7 years ago and it has changed heaps. Not the waterfall itself but the surroundings . From a long glass bridge that you can see the waterfall and river below. Definitely not as much rubbish lying around in the water . Even roped off so you can’t feel the impact of the waterfall on your body now lol. There is also club Ommo looking at the waterfall , which you can utilise their lift if you spend a few dollars for food or a couple of froffys . Which we did and took the Bintangs to the waterfall to drink . Just make sure you tell Ommo you will pick the froffys up from the bar downstairs, just so they are cold. You can swim in the water at the waterfall but be aware that there are slippery bamboo crossings and stairs.

Crowded. The waterfall itself it’s nice but no impressing. Does not worth it to go just to see it and take pictures. But you can swim in it. The water is not cold and the whole experience is so much funny! Unfortunately, no descent changing room is available, keep that in mind!

We visited the waterfall as our first stop and there were just few tourists, so we enjoyed the waterfall and we had some beautiful pictures.
We were early in the morning, so it was cold for a water dip.
You have to take giant stairs down to get to the waterfall and up again. I wouldn't recommend it for people with limited physical activity.
