Overview
More
This small museum at the north end of Sanur Beach evokes a time of innocence and beauty before the introduction of relatively recent laws banning "immodest dress." Even more impressive than the paintings by the Belgian artist of the young Balinese dancer he married and her friends is the small mansion in which the art and artifacts are housed: a lovely example of Balinese architecture decorated with finely carved and gilded wooden shutters.

It's a tragedy that this museum isn't being looked after properly. The beautiful paintings by Mayeur are housed behind glass but far from protecting the art, the glass is dirty and a layer of salt has made the glass hard to see through, either that...More

Inside this house-turned-museum once lived by the Belgian artist Le Mayeur & his wife, you'll not only see a "collection" of his paintings (quite a number of them actually), but you'll also kind of get a feel of his life walking around the house and...More

We were staying in Sanur by the beach so we thought we would pay this museum a visit one rainy day. It is a little hard to spot, as it is behind a wall where the Sanur to Nusa Lembongan ferries depart. The museum has...More

at the north end of Sanur just past the Bali Beach Hotel it is a lovely walk as the avenue is wide and tree shaded or you can ride a bike - my husband usually hires one for the month so rides everywhere but I like to walk
