Shiva Camel Safari - Non-Touristic Desert Tours - Quiet and Peaceful Our team at Shiva provide a range of camel safaris. We organise camel riding, food and night time stays on the sand dunes in the Thar desert surrounding Jaisalmer. Our guides are local people from desert villages who can speak a little English and share their knowledge of desert culture, wildlife, traditional music and stories. Our Tours: 1. Our night tour We leave Jaisalmer at 2pm from our guesthouse in the old fort. We start the safari by jeep, where we show you round some desert villages and meet some local people. We also take you to the abandoned village of Kuldhara and tell you the story of the 'empty village'. Then you can ride the camels for around 2 hours to beautiful clean sand dunes in the middle of the desert, where we camp outside in the open. You can enjoy the desert sunset with a cup of chai on the dunes. In the evening we cook food on the campfire and you can sit around the fire enjoying a delicious vegetarian thali under the stars. Then we make beds in the open with mattress and blankets so you can sleep under the night sky. The next morning we make breakfast at sunrise and ride the camels back for another 1.5 hours. We bring you back to Jaisalmer by jeep for 11.30am. If you would like to stay in Jaisalmer, we have a guest house where we can provide a room. When you return from safari we can provide a free shower and luggage storage. If you are arriving in Jaisalmer before the safari, you can contact us and we can pick you up from the train or bus station and help you with any transport you may need. 2. One and half day tour We start in the morning at 8.30am from our guesthouse. This safari is similar to the 2pm safari but you can spend the full day in the desert, riding the camels for longer. On this safari we cook lunch in the desert at around 12 o clock, then you can rest on the dunes before riding the camels again in the afternoon. You have the chance to see many wild animals as we go through the desert. You can watch the sunset, eat dinner, enjoy the fire and sleep on the dunes in an open camp before returning to Jaisalmer the next day for 11 - 11.30am. 3. Long safari If you would like to spend longer in the desert we have a safari for 3 days and 2 nights. We can also arrange safaris for 4,5,6 days or one week. Longer trips also possible on request. On a long safari you can go deeper into the desert, explore desert culture, see more wildlife and experience the Thar Desert over several days. 4. Sunset jeep tour If you don't want to ride the camels, we can take you into the desert by jeep. We will start the tour at 2pm. We drive from Jaisalmer out into the desert where we can show you the villages and the dunes, cook dinner and watch the sunset in the desert. Then we drive back to Jaisalmer by jeep the same night around 10pm. We offer the best camel adventure in Jaisalmer. --- All is one, one is all -
