Serene and calm vistas
Jan 2020
Sitting by the edge or taking a boat ride are intoxicating at sunrise. The clear skies, blue sky, tranquil waters are bewitching, but most of all,it’s the sound of silence....away from city crowds and in total peace.
Though it is a challenging ride by road, which is not smooth at all, dotted by small villages and their narrow rioads, one can relax in the MTDC hotel, which is reasonably clean or a modern hotel on the main road. One has to depend on one’s own resources for enetainment, but if one is looking for nature trails or alone time, this is perfect.Be sure to go before it gets humid in summer months,The greenery is verdant and nature lovers will find plenty of variety in flora and fauna.

This is a picturesque dam on the way to Lavasa. Surrounded by lots of greenery and small waterfalls. Very soothing for a citydweller.

Short trip for rejuvenation
Dec 2015 • Friends
Varasgaon and Panshet are two dam nearby to each other. If you are traveling from Pune then the trip can be a short and a memorable trip. There are good amount of activities like boating, zip line etc which can keep you engaged for couple of hours. The local dhabbas and restaurants serve good food. The route has awesome scenic beauty and was the most enjoyable part of the trip.
On the way, there is an old temple which takes some time as the road is almost is non existing and one needs to trek for some time. But, the visit to temple is worthy.
Only the point to take care is climate. We have went twice to the place, once in December and second on monsoon time. In December the sun was too hot even though the breeze was cool. During monsoon, the road went from bad to worst but it was more enjoyable than december.

Place to stop on the way to Lavasa
Nov 2015 • Couples
This dam comes on the way to Lavasa from Pune. Due to poor rain dam was filled less than half. Overall it was a good experience. Surrounding place is lush green, you will feel freshness in the air. Its better to visit this place during rainy season.

LAZY DAYS
Apr 2015 • Couples
Varasgaon Dam is a part of the other two dams in the vicinity. The other two are Khadalwasala and Panshet. We decided to get away from the city and spend some time in clean environment. The search started on the net including the TripAdvisor postings. Finally zeroed on Varasgaon, the distance was around 45 km, deep inside the rural surrounding.

There are many places to stay, nothing much to do in particular. We selected the hotel called weekendlakeresort. http://www.lakeweekendresort.in/. The prime reason to opt this property, as it is situated on the hill top. The view from the top is very good. Most of the rooms are facing the Varasgaon dam / lake. The hotel is moderate, good people and hospitable. The hotel provides for some water sports, the size is good for kids. The hotel also provides the table tennis and carom. The dining area is attractive, as the view of lake is attractive. One can enjoy the food viewing the water front from the top. The temperature was very encouraging with cool breeze even during the mid day temperature being high outside.

The hotel provides normal clean, homely food. There are no major cuisine or lavish or extravagant menu. Simple a home away from home.

The hotel is on the hill top, from the hotel one can go trekking. The hill next to hotel is the trekking spot. It took us about one to one and half hour to complete the trekking. It was really a pleasure, on the top, a small table land. It is absolutely safe, and nice. We could view Panshet and Khadakwasala dam from the table land.

The real beauty was the color of the sky. The shades were just out of the world, as there is no pollution, or smoke screen between you and the sky absolutely free view. The natures presentation was pure and unadulterated. The air was filled with fresh natural aroma.

It was evening time. The sun was bidding a good bye to the day. The hiding sun behind the other hills exhibited the magical color combination. We spend a lot of time appreciating the variety of display, and kept changing with every tick of the clock. I assure you every new canvas on the sky was unique and different.

The hotel gave us the guide Akshay. Who took us on the trek. Akshay was very co operative young person in his later teen.

The hotel also provides the clean filtered water to drink. The toilets were very clean nothing much to complain or praise. About 3 km away, one can go for boating.

Good place for a day or two, depending on the the mindset of the visitor.

All the best and good wishes to the future visitors ......

Probably better in the wet season
May 2014 • Friends
We passed by Varasgaon Dam and Panshet Dam whilst on a day trip from Pune to Lavasa. The road actually follows the Varasgaon Dam for a good stretch of the way, and the 2 dams are actually quite close together. The visit was in May 2014 and, being towards the end of the dry season, there wasn't much water and certainly there wasn't any water flowing over the dam wall.

panoramic view on the way to Lavasa city
Jan 2015 • Family
The Dam is a quick stop on the way to Lavasa city. There is a small waterfall and nothing much to do. Just a quick stop with some snaps and thats it!
