It's is a must see site by anyone who visits Nalanda. It was an eye opener for me to know about such a big Residential University campus existed in India and it was destroyed by subsequent rulers.

Nalanda was a large Buddhist monastery known as mahavihar in the ancient kingdom of magadha (now known as Bihar). It is a UNESCO world Heritage site.

If you want to learn more about ancient Indian learning center, this place is a must visit. It had been vandalized by Khilji dynasty. This site has been named as UNESCO World Heritage site.

Probably the oldest in India, a must visit when you are in bihar or nalanda. The ruins sing the glory of the ancient times and they tell you the history.
