Staying here gives you many options regarding food, accommodation and activities. It's a pitty to see floating rubbish near the dock.

Lots to do on the island itself (tortoises, lava tunnels, lots of wildlife, beaches, cute town) and good central location for day trips to other islands.

We had 2 1/2 days here after an 8 day cruise of islands and exhausted all there was to offer in terms of sights with time to spare. Sightseeing is very limited, I’ve reviewed most individually, Puerto Ayora is only filled with excursion touts and...More

What to do if you can't decide between a land based trip or a cruise; do both. I stayed on Santa Cruz for six days and pretty much exhausted all there was to do on the island plus did day trips to Bartolome and Pinzon....More

We didn't really understand why this island is the main one. Town isn't to nice. And this island has much less free activities than the other two main islands. We loved San Cristobal town and activities better

Of all the islands this is the place to buy trinkets. Lots of shops with high end artistic to cheesy memorabilia.

This is the main island of the Galapagos, with so much to do, see, and eat, that you could spend at least a week just on this island. Most of Puerto Ayora is walkable and very safe. There are some excellent beaches and other sights...More

We were hesitant to do a land based Galapagos experience but so glad we did. The island was prettier than expected with countless opportunities to explore. The climate was perfect and we really enjoyed staying in the lush green highlands. We were a little surprised...More

Hi, there are many, many, many tour operators in the town offering different kinds of daily tours. Some of the tours to the other uninhabited island are often more than one day long and may require a little more forward... More
