Despite being housed in an ageing building, the collection at the Sichuan Museum is world class! Exhibiting artifacts going back thousands of years, the museum showcases the cultures that developed locally, both before subjugation by Han Chinese and afterwards, when the people living in the...More

Due to the vacation period of May 1, it was very crowdy in the museum. Not easy to look after the artifacts.

My overall score is four stars: Definitely interesting, well worth time and effort. I’d rate this a very good museum. It has an interesting collection of ceramics, bronzes, stone sculpture, stretching over two millennia dug up from around Sichuan province. Many pieces are very beautiful,...More

When approaching the woman manning the reception if we needed to buy entrance tickets, she retorted that we were already in the museum. When I asked if I could rent the audio guide, she replied that it wouldn't be of much help. Not a warm...More

The year old modern building of Sichuan Museum provides free entry with a lot excellent exhibits. I will rate this is number one attraction at Chengdu for me.

A wonderful museum. Lots of information, displays and rooms. Budget an afternoon here :) we had a great time. Across the street and a bit to the left (when looking out on the street), was also the best hot pot we had in Chengdu! It...More

Very near to DuFuCaoTang, took a 10 minutes walk on a Saturday afternoon and luckily tickets were still available. Entry to the museum was free. Perhaps it was a weekend so there were volunters around offering explanations on the exhibits being displayed. Perhaps the hall...More

This museum is shockingly small despite its size. The place has a number of areas that are reserved for temporary exhibits but at the time there were none so around 4 or 5 halls were completely empty. Despite this what is there is a good...More

We enjoyed our visit, particularly the shadow puppets on the fifth floor. This is a new museum and they have made the most of their collection. It is worth spending a few hours here.

The museum is a nice place to visit if you want to learn about the local history, art and customs. We visited on a Sunday. It was more crowded than usual, but still relaxed and enjoyable. A big bonus is the air conditioning!
