We took our 5 year old to the park who was super excited about seeing a real volcano. Obv, we had to explain it wasn’t an active one... This is probably one of the best attractions near Haikou. It’s clean, well managed and has relatively...More

Huoshankou Park is located 10min drive from where I stayed (The Ritz-Carlton Haikou). I recommend to go there once it opens at 8am so that you can avoid the crowd, and hot sun in the midday. The park itself is small in size but it...More

Very beautiful park, highly recommended to come early by the opening as you will need 2-3 hours to enjoy and not to be in a rush. It does get very hot and humid, so the later you come during the day, more difficult it is....More

OK gang. Find some tough walking gear and visit here. This is totally unique. Well marked trails, maps and sights in English and other languages. Be prepared for elevation gains and drops. Plan 2 - 2.5 hours in this exceptional park.

This national park built around a extinct volcano isn’t the most exciting activity to attend however it is well laid out. There are quite a lot of stairs to get to the volcano itself but nothing too difficult. They had live entertainment there with traditional...More

The Geopark is located a bit outside of Haikou. It is a very nicely done park and surpassed our expectations considerably. There are several smaller outdoor ‘exhibits’ including a cactus garden, wood sculpture garden, old lava patches and caves, old houses, gates and temples and...More

It's a UNESCO geopark after all and it's definitely worth a visit just to see the inactive volcano. It is a bit difficult to get to but the size is manageable for a half-day trip.

Great outing but quite secluded. Can catch a taxi to reach the park at RMB40. My worry about difficulty in getting a taxi home was unfounded as a regular minibus can fetch you back to the city for RMB4, stopping at Xiu Ing bus terminal....More

The place is really fascinating. First, you take a walk in the stone garden, then you go down to the very middle of the volcano. You need to be in a good shape though as many stairs look amazing, but challenging 😀
