Another statue of an important historical figure in Chile's independence, strangely tucked away from the main centre of town. Wouldn't bother going to look for it especially.

Yet another statue...would have been better if perhaps there was a writeup or more to read about Bernardo O'Higgins. The trees are beautifully maintained and it was a pleasant walk.

If you're walking the city you'll likely run into this plaza and state on 21 May between the Plaza de Armas and the waterfront.

The statute is located not far from the Punta Arenas boardwalk and old betty and their central market. It is situated within a small strip park with benches for you to sit and relax. The plaques tell an interesting story of this important figure in...More

Visited this monument and well kept park while strolling around Punta Arenas. Interesting to read the plaques and learn a little of the local history. You probably wouldn't seek out the monument independently, but it is a nice walking area after being on a bus...More

We found this little area in the heart of Punta Arenas. There is a small park area that extends up a long hill between two streets. We enjoyed hiking around and reading all the plaques.

The history of Bernard Higgins is quite interesting to read on a long coach journey through the steppe but the statue is quite underwhelming really you will probably pass by without giving it a second glance unless you are told who it is

Inevitably, you will pass this as it is part of the main "grid" of town that you are probably interested in. Far more amazing IMHO is the quality and skill of the tree trimmers who seem to get perfectly rounded trees by hand / eye....More

This is the first thing we saw after we got off our ship. It's a nice place to walk and we went on up town from there. Looks like a safe neighborhood.

Bernardo has many monuments etc around S America, and it is hard to get excited about them! This one has some large topiary near it, but otherwise has little to recommend it!
