Baphuon temple is lovely and well worth a visit. You can climb up the stairs to the top. There is a reclining Buddha in the stonework at the side.

Climb the steep stairs for stunning views but if you have walking issues, just view from below. It is next to Bayon and in the back of the temple you will see a resting Buddha.

This is one of the temples you can climb to the top on. The stairs are steep so be careful. Worth the climbing. Among my favourite top 10 temples and located inside Angkor Thom area.

Some of the trees that intertwined with the ruins, strangling the gates are ancient figs. I'm not suggesting that these are the trees you observed but it might not be a bad place to start.
