Modern structure by the river – fairly simple but pleasantly decorated. We went for the Ash Wednesday service which was quite an experience. Most of the congregation were seated on matting on the ground except for older people like us on the few chairs. I was surprised at the number of people there but enjoyed the service which was part English part Khmer. Sunday mass is at 7.30 in the morning but there is an evening service at 18.30 each day bar Friday when it is 19.00. There is also a small shop to the front.

First time I've seen a Catholic Mass with seating on the floor! There were reed mats to sit on, windows open with fans. This appears to be the only Catholic church in the area. Located at No. 027 on River Road near Street 17 (aka Irina Rd) facing the Siam Reap River. This is just across the river from Charles De Gaulle (the main thoroughfare that goes north from town towards Angkor Wat). Cross the river on National Hwy 6 (the main east-west drag) then go north 2 ½ blocks on River Road. 3 story structure resembling a dwelling. Look for the cross on a metal sign, has name in English. Sat evening 630pm in English, Sunday morning 730am in Khmer.

After a few days admiring and learning Khmer Culture, I came across many things especiallg about their major religions and I do respect them. Being a Catholic though, it was rather a breath of fresh air to find a place to reflect in the house the Lord. A big thank you to the people who founded this church and also to the brothers and sisters who maintain it to this day. God bless!

Enjoy a different atmosphere at St J, nevertheless, still feel at home. Kind Jesuit fathers and GREAT gift shops the wood products of which is made by local disabled people. Notice Jesus suffering on the cross, of which one of his leg is shorter than the other due to land mines accident. A great cross gift for folks at home.

Went to St John’s Catholic Church on 22 Dec 2019. We didn’t research before hand that the only English mass was held on Saturday (Sunset Mass) and the only Sunday mass was in Khmer language and at 6.30am.
Nonetheless, after lunching at Khmer Taste at Soksan Road, we took a tuk tuk here. We like this church architecture more than St Joseph’s Church in Phnom Penh a week ago. May be because St John was built as a church and St Joseph’s Church was a school-converted-to Church? It was like a wooden hut. The lady who worked in the Church’s gift shop that day came and asked us where we were from? She sounded like she was from Singapore or Malaysia. The Christmas decor was simple, yet nice.
We had to take off our shoes before we entered the church. Just like St Joseph’s, everywhere was mats, no benches.

Simplicity at its best! We attended mass at 6:30 am and had a solemn and spirit filled experience. Church is made of wood and we sat on the floor. Shout out to the Jesuit Fathers and community for running St. John’s church!

This is indeed a localized Church which was awesome to go and glad I went for weekend Mass (Sat 630pm for English mass). Seatings was on the floor though there were chairs at the side of the 'pews' for those who preferred it. Mass was basically said while sitting down hence the Cambodian Church being Cambodian as per the need for the Asian Church to be Asian.
Definitely worth a visit even if you're not Catholic to look at the architecture.

It’s an old traditional Siem style Catholic Church at the hear of Siem Reap. Elevated wooden building, a humble sanctuary and it is open to faithful and tourists alike.

Saturday evening vigil mass in English at 6.30pm
You will know you are close by if you see the white sari with blue hems of the Sisters of Charity.
Next to notice is the large number of young people attending Mass, including many travellers and expats.
Interesting to take part in this liturgy, especially the sung prayers in a setting I had not heard before.
A number of couple were celebrating their long marriage anniversaries with special blessings. We qualified so we joined in.
Electric power went off three times during Mass. Extra candles lit and many cell phones then used to provide light.
Easy to walk back to the mid-city or take a tuktuk for two bucks.

We went Saturday afternoon to 18.30 Mass in English. Different experience of Mass. You walk in barefoot and sit on the floor. Very rewarding. Recommended
