The restored fort situated on the coast brings alive the history of Bahrain as a trading post and gives an idea of the historical context of Bahrain.
A cafe is nearby, and a pleasant time can be had sipping a cup of coffee by the seashore.
Time taken for a visit would be one to two hours for the fort, but after a while becomes boring as there is no now to provide a guided tour.
Yet well worth a visit.

Fortress expanded and modified by the Portuguese in 1561. Constructions still well preserved, but none of great impact. Difficult to visit on very hot days due to the walk from the parking lot to the fort in the middle of the desert without any shade.

A beautiful position by the sandy shores overlooking Manama. A token BD 1 to get in and we’ll worth it. The outside of the fort is well preserved and it is east to see where the first floor inside the fort would have been. In and out in about 20 mins, but pleased I did it.

Arad Fort is one of Bahrain's most important defensive castles. It was built in the style of Islamic forts at the end of the 15th and early 16th centuries, It has a strategic location overlooking various sea passages of Muharraq Island, it is extensively renovated, It is surrounded by a gated wall, and I paid BD 1 as entrance fees, it is a very nice castle to look at and see, it looked like the classical castles that we saw in books and movies when we were kids, passing through the main door into the castle is thrilling for the kids, the inside of the castle is empty apart from a water well and small rooms probably for storing the dates, it has 4 towers that you can climb to via stairs, the fort looks amazing at night with the lightings, the site was used several times as a back ground for concerts of famous singers.

Free entry. Renovated fort - but no interpretation to give any history or context to the fort. Nice view of the sea.

Arad Fort portrays how people long ago managed security and manning the waters of Bahrain. It is set on a high point of the island and interesting to see certain aspects of creativity in the building structure. Its a quick trip though as you can walk around it and in it for about 30 mins. The view of the city from inside is so so beautiful. Of course best to go in winter or early/late hours of the day in summer.

Amazing place for morning walk, even it got shades to rest or relax, but when the water level is low then the place smells bit fishy, they do have an cold store and a ice cream stand for summer but it’s open all year

Took the family to check out this fort. The guy at information shouted over rudely and we were told to pay 1 dinar for entry. Since it said "information" and not "tickets", I had my doubts as to whether he was telling the truth or not. I'm pretty sure it is free to visit this place and he was ripping us off, so we ended up just seeing around the outside. Don't bother paying, you can see everything from the outside.
