I've been to two weddings at the Hormel Historic Home now and both were festive and elegant occasions. The home is well maintained and it's fun to feel yourself stepping back in time and imagining what it would have been like to have lived in...More

This was our first visit to the Historic Hormel House (HHH). We were at the venue attending a wedding reception. The HHH is conveniently located downtown. I’ll begin by saying that the historic house and the banquet area are adjoined, but separate spaces. The banquet...More

Not much of a tourist attraction. The staff were unenthusiastic - to say the least - about giving a tour: "Here's the dining room. Here's the living room. That's the stairway. No, you can't go upstairs. Over there's the exit. Anything else?"More

Hello thief_of_hearts2002, Thank you for your review. During regular tour hours our staff give introductory information before a self-guided tour begins. Staff are also available for questions throughout the self-guided tour. Usually the upstairs is available for touring, but sometimes a rental event or photography...More

We had a catered dinner, which was excellent and the banquet area is classy. A good venue for a speaker, too. We went on a self-guided tour afterwards, at our own pace, and the signs encouraged us to touch the artifacts and sit on the...More

What a surprise to be able to touch the furniture, play the piano and use the historic bathrooms. Never have I been in an historic home that's allowed that. It's run more as a community event center than anything else. The wallpaper is period. Furniture...More

Makes an impression for a private party. A historical part of Austin as it was the home of the Hormel family. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Many local parties are held there, mostly in the additions where there is more space for groups.
