Located in aheavy forested area caused by the damming of the river I believe. Great fishing I am told. YOu can drive around the Lake liked all the coves and trees surrounding it.

Lake Allegan has homes on it and boat docks and pontoon boats and nothing else. There is no reason to go there unless you are visiting relatives.

Husband fishes this lake frequently - it is generally busy on both sides of the Dam - lots of fishing - some skiing....

This place is an unsung beauty. Not many people on it at all. Very quiet but very large! It's not really a true lake, but a dammed off river. Still, LOVELY.

Pack your fishing gear, oh yes, and a big picnic, gas up the car for a good ole fashioned country drive. The scenic drive around Lake Allegan and historic view of the great Allegan Dam...this is where you will join other fisherman for your catch...More

After eating at the Grill House we went downtown Allegan & was impressed with the town & the park that was clean & comfortable. The sunset was absolutely breathtaking.

Yes, you can. This is a DNR patrolled waterway, be respectful for fisherman. There is an absolutely great sand bar, You will launch at the DNR office, it can be a little narrow to get down to. Watch a sunset...awesome.

The areas I've visited are boat launch areas so those areas no but I'm not certain about the rest of the lake....I live by there though and haven't seen a beach area yet.
