The area
Neighborhood: Jumeirah
Years ago, before the skyscrapers, before the 12-lane highway, there was only Jumeirah. In fact, when the UAE was formed, its rulers signed the agreement in Union House, at the very start of Jumeirah Beach Road. Often called “The Beverly Hills” of Dubai, a drive down Beach Road reveals one enormous, lavish villa after another. Originally residential-only neighborhoods, they are now also home to an array of cafes, smart boutiques, and art galleries. Home to one of Dubai’s few public beaches, this recently renovated area includes a new boardwalk, running and walking track, with changing facilities and cafes along the way. Another landmark, Jumeirah Mosque, is the only mosque in Dubai that can be entered by non-Muslims. As part of the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, the mosque hosts regular tours and talks about Islam, as part of an “Open Doors, Open Minds” program. A wonderful way to understand more about the UAE and Islam.

    Couple hour visit
Definitely worth visiting for an hour or so to learn about the history of the UAE and founder. The museum also covers a little about the discovery of oil and the expansion of that industry that turned the UAE into what it is today. There is also a guided tour of the palace/house onsite but doesn’t run often. Total time needed 1-2 hours.

    history
Free parking, lots of parking spaces. Large building, lovely architecture. No queues. Not busy. Great way to learn some history about UAE. I don't recommend eating at the cafe - Indian waitress was not at all friendly. I asked for americano with milk on the side. She brought the milk in a bowel (not mini jug), coffee in a small cup which was warm (not hot). Service was poor which is a shame as it spoiled the whole experience.

    Great in every sense
This museum is just fabulous. Astonishing architecture, excellent staff, very interesting movies and explanation about the beginning of the Emirates and the country. We met the gentleman who drew the Emirati flag. He won the contest when he was 19 years old. Now the gentleman is in its 70‘s or more. Thank you for thus unique experience.

    Patriotic museum about UAE association
This is very interesting patriotic museum, describing the association of the Emirates into a single country. They have historical building, where agreement has been signed and modern beautiful building, which describes this process. They have different modern digital exhibits, along with private things of Emirates Sheikhs. Staff is very welcoming, many thanks to Kate, who provided us a guided tour when we came. Also they organise workshops even for kids. There is a nice park around the museum and a few visitors.

    Lovely museum
A really interesting museum telling the story of the UAE with interactive exhibits and artefacts. We also popped upstairs to the cafe to have a smoothie each which was great and had a nice view of that part of the city. Well recommended.

It’s interesting to learn about such a young country, it’s founders, the why behind certain rules and how it all came about.

I loved the fact it has many fun and modern ways to present the information. From moving cubes to get videos and photo’s and so on.

I would have personally loved some more data and data presentations. It was a lot of story telling, I like that, but a time line and also a time line from before it was uae for context would have made it better. Also more clear maps for example would have been helpful.

It’s a nice hour to learn more about the country and it’s founders,

The museum is dedicated to the union of the emirates and the formation of the current state. The exhibits are not very spectacular, but the building has an unusual, very beautiful architecture. It represents a rolled sheet of paper, representing the document signed for the union (according to the guide). As part of the museum, you can also visit (with a guide) the room where the union was signed, as well as the building where Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum received his important visitors. Very good guidance!
Also, there is an interesting (temporary?) exhibition of Arabic calligraphy.
There is also a cafe, but it doesn't serve alcohol.
You need about an hour to visit all.
