    Restored Historic Neighborhood in Dubai
    Preserved historic neighborhood dating back to the 1890s that was saved from the wrecking ball in the 1980s and is now restored. We wandered through the narrow alleys of the neighborhood after visiting the re-created Al Seef shopping and dining complex and before taking an Abra across Dubai Creek to the Gold and Spice Souks across the water. We just strolled through and enjoyed it but to be honest there didn't seem like a lot to do. With that said, there are several art galleries and a coffee museum that can be visited. Al Fahidi Fort and the Dubai Museum is also nearby.

    Lovely but there’s a Starbucks there
    We went to the historic area via a water boat late in the afternoon. I actually lived wandering the streets and they were quiet quaint. My only complaint or ick was that there is a Starbucks there which I think personally ruined the whole vibe of the area. There are some streets that are totally empty aside from some Instagram worthy items throughout and others were there are market stalls. I did see a hotel there and the trip home to Jumeriah was quite a quick trip around 20 minutes. The water taxi was 2 AED pp and we did see plenty of other boats just going up and down the river. If coming here make sure you get dropped on this side of the river as it’s easy access whereas we were dropped off on the Souk side and the walk was tiring and you’re getting haggled every step of the way

    Lovely couple of jours
    This is a really lovely place. I throughly enjoyed having a wander round and there were some nice bits to buy. Do haggle. The only thing I would say is it feels a bit like Adventure Land in Disney. Don’t get me wrong, it’s well worth a visit and looks great but it is a very sanitised reconstruction. Sadly the museum was shut when I went, which was a shame.

    Exploring Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood in Dubai
    Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood is a nice place to visit for anyone who wants to experience the old way of life in Dubai. The neighbourhood dates back to the mid 19th century and has been preserved and restored to showcase the traditional buildings, wind towers, alleys and squares that were once home to the merchants and traders of the city. You can wander around the neighbourhood and discover various cultural activities, museums, art galleries and events that celebrate the rich history and diversity of Dubai. You can also visit the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, where you can learn more about the Emirati culture, religion and customs. Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood is a place where you can immerse yourself in the past and appreciate the contrast with modern Dubai. It is a unique and memorable experience that I would recommend.

This is definitely worth a visit in Dubai if you want to get away from the luxury high life of the Marina. It is old and shows culture more. There are a few nice Arabian coffee houses, nice alleys to walk around in and get photos and also the boat ride which is 5 minutes to cross to the other side to see the Souk. Nice place for a stroll.

I've been taking visitors here for almost 20 years. This is old dubai and where you should start your journey when you land in dubai. Walk the charming alleyways, see a very cool boutique hotel and get lost exploring the different houses and cafes there!

My experience shooting at Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood was nothing short of extraordinary. This enchanting and culturally rich neighborhood provided the perfect backdrop for our shoot, capturing the essence of Dubai's rich heritage and historical charm.

Imagine a Hollywood set for a fake dessert village and you got the historic city centre of Dubai. Its picture perfect and sets to shame the rest of Dubai which is such a soulless city with heat trapping skyscrapers, highways, flyways etc

PROS
* Authentic Arab neighborhood
* Many kinds of traditional architecture of homes and buildings
* Traditional arts and crafts
* Traditional stores
* A multitude of little museums on local lifestyles and culture
* Added bonus- accessible by the wonderful traditional and simple abra boat

CONS
* Narrow streets and crowded

"I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... as part of my plan to visit everything famous and touristy in Dubai. It was interesting to explore the narrow streets, but not pleasant, as they were crowded. Of course we got lost, and that was frustrating and I was concerned, even though it's not dangerous and any "real" crime is almost unheard of. There were hundreds of young people milling around on a lawn- I was sure that they were from a university campus there, but did not find one. After walking around in circles for a long time, we found the Crossroads of Civilization Museum, which was our planned destination.

ADVICES
Sure- old Dubai is an essential part to see but be careful and cautious. Best to allot a certain amount of time without an agenda and just wander. Maybe it's even best to go without a car, because without waze or google maps marking your parking space, you may never find it again.
