We took the escalator up to the top- as sun was rising. The views (haze, smog, pollution aside) were lovely. Superior panoramic. Tons of monasteries and nunneries nestled near here. The glass shimmering mosaics made this slightly different from other sights. Nice walk down.
I was in Mandalay for just a couple of days & managed to do Mandalay Hill for sunset. The views were wonderful. It was definitely worth doing especially as Mandalay itself wasn't really up to much.

went to Mandalay Hill for the sunset instead of U Bein bridge less crowded but not as good as the bridge ,but saying that ,wandering around the temple just before dusk was worth the trip
