Quite unique in the sense that the main part of the station building is a hotel. The Marvel hotel management added some Burmese style decorations to the solemn columns. Moreover there is some gold shining Burmese structure on top. I have never seen this before....More
I live in mandalay and I’m surprised to find this place listed in trip advisor. Sure, the Mandalay Central Railway station is old and located in the middle of the city. It’s run down and dirty although it’s much cleaner now. It’s a hub for...More
I’ve got free time in the morning and decide to stroll around without expecting anything, so I just pop into the railway station and see what’s there. It was an interesting walk inside the station. It’s bare but authentic. Looks like what it was like...More
It is just another main railway station in Mandalay city. If you travel by railway then this is your destination but for those who travel on bus or air then you would not want to spend you time to visit here.

The nearest accommodation is right above the railway station, the HOTEL MARVEL. Lifts go to and from the platforms and main street to reception on the 4th floor. Should you want a slightly less expensive hotel, there are several others across the street and in the local area. Being low season at the moment, the Hotel Marvel, an excellent luxury establishment, has bargain offers - please check the hotel's website. Although built above the station, there is no noise inside the hotel. Have an enjoyable visit as I did..
