Quite unique in the sense that the main part of the station building is a hotel. The Marvel hotel management added some Burmese style decorations to the solemn columns. Moreover there is some gold shining Burmese structure on top. I have never seen this before....More

Arrived at Mandalay Station from Bagan, taking an overnight train. The station was easy enough to use. We didn’t hang around as had a plane to catch.

Mandalay is located almost in the centre of Myanmar though is a hub. People wait everywhere, sleeping and eating and sometimes having a party. But despite of this, railway station is not too dirty.

Railway stations are just that - a place where journeys begin or end. They are full of travellers and the homeless. It is interesting but not a ‘must visit ‘ destination

It is just another main railway station in Mandalay city. If you travel by railway then this is your destination but for those who travel on bus or air then you would not want to spend you time to visit here.

Being a railway enthusiast I was attracted by its operation and being an important transport hub for many Burmese people. Above the station is the luxurious Hotel Marvel in which I stayed (see separate review) and elevators link platforms with reception. I was hoping to...More
