This is the smallest and probably least frequented of the entrances to the Old Town, less then five minutes via the main road to the Sea Gate. The location along with all of Kotor is quite literally stunning - right opposite the harbour. One walks...More

A large cruise ship had just docked and the main Sea Gate was mobbed, so I walked south along the town quay to the southern city gate on the Gurdich river. I enjoyed an oasis of quiet, allowing me to study the city walls and...More

Even though this was my second time coming to Kotor, I had not come through the southern entrance on my first visit eight years ago. If you visit, try to go through this entrance as it is quite stunning as it exits onto the harbor...More

Of all the gates, we think the southern gate (Gurdic Gate) is the most interesting, it had a real medieval feel about it. A narrow street leads to it (within the walls), however it is quite a big gate. The mechanical workings add to the...More

An easy place to find from the centre and worth finding to have a look. Nice and quiet here compared to some of the other places,.

If you like big doors or super huge gate looking entrances this is it but truly this was cool to see as the gate leads to more parts of the castle.

This another gate of the Fort and is used as an alternative entrance by some. The Gate and the fort walls are well preserved.

Entrance to the old town. I would not have known it was there, except I saw people walking that way. It is a good way to go as wanders around some quiet lanes not opening to the square.

This gate is far enough away from the main entrance that many tourist either miss this entrance or don't bother going here. It's quiet and very pretty. Overall, the old City of Kotor is quite beautiful and a very nice place to wander around the...More

Yes, it's walking distance, just across the street. It will take you 5 minutes from the ship to the gate.
